Our monthly opportunity to volunteer at the Free Lunch Program is this Thursday, January 3, from 11:30AM-1:00PM. If you have them, bring your bottles from home so that they can be filled with holy water. This is the service at which holy water is blessed. At the end of Liturgy on Sunday, we will do a blessing of the water service. We will also have our normal cycle of services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. This year, we will have matins and Liturgy on the morning of January 5 (Theophany Eve), at 8:45AM and 10AM. We also mark the day before the Feast of Theophany with special services. We will hold this service at 9AM on January 4. Therefore, the first service related to the feast is Royal Hours, a quiet, prayerful service filled with lots of readings from the Holy Scripture, including much from the Old Testament. The Feast of Theophany, which is a celebration of the baptism of the Lord and the realization that He has come to redeem His entire created world and not merely mankind, follows the same patterns of liturgical services as does the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord.
